An incredible number of agencies and organisation are working around and against the clock to support those in immediate need of primary care and treatment, and will go to extraordinary lengths to secure financial assistance and help from the community at large. The work that these agencies and organisations are actively engaged in deserves nothing but respect and appreciation from all of us.
In the time that HIV has personally affected the lives of the crew at What's Your Sign, there has been a noticeable shift in the general perception towards those affected and infected with HIV. The results have been quite remarkable.
However, we have also noticed that the fight against HIV and AIDS within our own communities and a little closer to home, has been less pronounced and more cyclic than anything.
As a whole, we are continually active in promoting HIV prevention to our children, to our friends and family, even to our employers and colleagues, but these environments are controlled and do not affect the lives of everyone, and change on a daily basis.
Mostly, personal awareness of HIV is not at sufficient levels until it is too late.
What's Your Sign are taking positive steps to take HIV awareness to unprecedented levels, not by forcing the issues surrounding HIV on those that would rather not hear them, simply giving those that would not ordinarily involve themselves in these environments the opportunity to tap into and support our services and learn a little more about the Global HIV pandemic.
The effect that HIV is having on countries of low economic development cannot be ignored any longer!
There is nothing more valuable than giving another human being the opportunity to celebrate life more fully!
